LABOUR PARTY.
MR HOLLAND’S CAMPAIGN. Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, May 10. Mr H. E. Holland, the Labour Party leader, opened his Dominion campaign last night, when he addressed an audience of 120 and had an excellent hearing. Discussing the result of the Parnell by-election, he said: “Nobody has anvthing to write home about, but Labour has the satisfaction of knowing that it alone gained ground.” The speaker justified Labour’s action in putting the United Party into power, saying that the result of the general election was a clear indication that the electors were tired of the Reform Government, and that the next largest party should be given an opportunity to fulfil its promises. Mr Holland was 4i aa PP°i n ted that the United Party had not grappled with unemployment in the proper way. Ho said that he could not prophesy what would take place during the coming session. Parliament migjit run its normal course, or an election might come at the end of this or the beginning of next, year.
