Alltop opened the scoring for Foxton by intercepting and running 70 yards to scoro near the posts, but the major points were not added. Bulls forwards attacked, and Keat fell on the ball, making tho score: Bulls 9, Foxton 3. The visitors’ backs came through with a fine passing rush, and from a ponaltv Hunua found tho posts. The fast few minutes of the game were hotly contested,' and on the call of time indecision on tho part of the home backs saw Melton secure and cross between the posts. Hunua added the necessary points to make the score: Foxton 11, Bulls 9, and the final whistle sounded immediately. Mr D. Westwood was the referee. The Bulls senior fifteen to meet Hunterville at Bulls on Saturday will bo weakened by the absence of U. Ellery (who is on holiday), and Preston (who is playing in the Possibles v. Probables match at Wanganui). The Hunterville team will also be without tho services of two of their best players, so things will bo equal in this respect. GENERAL. Old boys of the Bulls Troop of Boy Scouts will hold their annual reunion here on Saturday, and a large gathering is anticipated, acceptances having been received from old boys in all parts of New Zealand. Mrs Arthur Blanchard has returned from Wellington. Mr and Mrs S. Avery are visiting friends in Pahiatua prior to leaving for their new home in Tau•marunui. Mrs E. V. Wilson, with her sister, Mrs A. Stephenson, of Paremata, are spending a few weeks with their brother, Mr C. Waterton, at Otorohanga. Mr Y. Edhouso is visiting Hawera, where his horse, Elysianor, is due to make its debut over steeplechase fences on Saturday. TOWN BOARD MEETING. BULLS, May 9. The regular monthly meeting of the Bulls Town Board was held on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs J. Walker, H. Stevens, F. A. Holland and J. B. Robins. Leave of absence wa6 granted to Messrs J. F. Flynn, V. Edhouse and C. M. Broughton. Foreman S. Howard reported on work done during 1 the month ending May 8. All main roads were graded with the county grader seven times; screened metal had been put on main roads, and metal screened in pit; a tree stump in Upper Bridge Street had been removed; cement and filling had been carted for tho channelling job in Upper High Street, and a water-table filled in in the same street. He recommended that a water-table in Daniel Street should also bo attended to, and this was agreed to. R. M. Mclntosh, Gorton Street, applied for permission to make additions to his residence. —Approved. Finance. —Credit balances were shown as follow :—District fund, £528 9s Id; cemetery account, £27 13s lid; library account, £lO 14s 6d. Tho collections for the month were: Rents, £23 12s 6d; motor licenses, £6 13s 4d; library, £5 Bs. The following accounts were passed for payment: District fund, £77 Is Id ; library, £3 76 2d. Rates struck. —The chairman’s motion, notice of which was given at last meeting, was passed. It read: “That a general rate of Is 5d in the £1 and a lighting rate of fid in the £1 be struck for the year April 1, 1930, to March 31, 1931; the said rate to become due and payable in one sum on the 27th day of June, 1930.” The usual rates will also stand: Bridge rate 4d in tho £1 and footpath rate 2d in the £l. Channelling.—Members stated that the channelling which had been put in between Dr. Watson’s residence and the corner of Criterion Street in Upper High Street was very satisfactory, and the price had been very reasonable. —It was resolved to continue the channelling along Daniel Street, a distance of 22 chains. Roading.—The matter of hitumenising Bridge Street was discussed, and it was resolved to invito the county engineer to report on the state of this main thoroughfare, and to give him every assistance when making the inspection. Drainage.—Complaints wore general regarding the offensive odours rising from certain drains, and the matter of arranging for the manufacture of suitable moulds to do away with the nuisance was left in Mr Holland’s hands. Mr Holland also brought up tho question of providing a drain in Bridge Street to carry tho surplus water from the corner of Criterion Street over the cliff, and as this matter must bo attended to before bitumen is laid down, the drain was approved. It was also resolved to erect channels to carry the water from the library roof into tho street channels. Works committee for the month: Messrs Stevens, Edhouso and Broughton. DOMAIN BOARD. The same members then sat as a Domain Board. Tho domain account was in credit £3l 2s, and the electric light account (which had not yet been rendered) was passed for payment, also an account of £2 7s 3d for gorse grubbing.
