HALLOWE’EN NIGHT.

FUNCTION AT WHAKARONGO. CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS PARTY. Goblins and witches, elves and wizards, attired in the weirdest costumes, made merry with ghosts and skeletons of gruesome aspect at the YVhakarongo Hall last evening. It was not the haunted abode of awesome creations of the human imagination, however, but merely the liallowe’en night held for the children. They presented a pretty spectacle, and defying the atmosphere of superstition created by the presence of numerous black cats, exorcised the evil spuite with happiness and joy. The function was a thoroughly pleasant one, and music was supplied by an orchestra. With their dancing finished, the children adjourned to the supper-room, where there was a dainty array of delicacies, and the adults took the floor for tne remainder or the evening. The proceeds are to augment the school funds. Praise is due to Mrs Eggers and to Miss O'Rnen for the training of the children, who went through their dance numbers with youthful grace.
