DISPLAY’ NEXT TUESDAY. In announcing a large display of fireworks as a medium for augmenting their* fund 9 for purchasing a set of kilts, the Manawatu Highland Pipe Band havo hit upon a most popular■ attraction. Such displays occur only at . rare intervals; thus their novelty and general appeal are maintained; with the result that largo crowds aro invariably attracted when these attractions are announced. Next Tuesday evening the Showgrounds will again bo the venue of the pyrotochnical outburst, experts from the factory of Wairioni Fireworks, Ltd., bein£ responsible .for the exhibition. Tho programme will include many large sot pieces in varied designs and brilliant mottoes apropos of the occasion. Mechanical sots such as large ■ rainbow wheels and revolving fountains, without which no display is complete, will also be included, likewise a liberal supply of varied rockets and aerial shells. Prior to the firing of the display an illuminated parado around tho oval will be carried out by tho pipe band, and this should prove a very spectacular affair. To add variety to the programme, a boys’ singing competition is to be held and good prizes are announced for this event. Tho combined, attractions should attract a largo assemblage'. While modest prices of admission will prevail; a concession is niado to al'. children under ten years of ago, who will bo admitted free it accompanied by parents.
