CYCLIST PURSUED.

EXCITEMENT AT INVERCARGILL. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, April 10. Shortly before noon to-day people passing the Club Hotel were amazed to see a man dash out of a corridor, hurriedly mount a bicycle, and pedal furiously along Dee Street, hotly pursued by a small army of waitresses and other employees of the hotel. The fugitive turned down Esk Street toward the station, and then went round the Crescent. The last that was seen of him ho was riding at a fast speed along Tay Street in an easterly direction. During his flight round the Crescent one or two m'en endeavoured to intercept the cyclist, but with a celerity that would have done credit to an All Black the rider swerved past them. The excitement was caused by the man being discovered in the servants’ quarters of the hotel, from where sums of money are reported to have been stolen. His pursuers were led. through one of the busiest sections of the city. The fugitive, however, made good his escape after tlie normal life of the community had been rudely disturbed..
