AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

- MANAWATU SUB-CENTRE. The monthly meeting of the Manawatu Sub-centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held last evening, Mr A. Iv. Drew presiding in the absence of Mr F. Aisher, from whom an apology for' absence was received. Also present were Messrs. M. Strange (treasurer), E.- Clevely and 0. Jackson (Bunnythorpe), N. Dixon (Manawatu), N. O. Curry (Kia Toa), N. Ryeburh- (Woodville), E. J’. Harding (Papatawa), H. Hamer (Foxton) and C. L. Turnbull (secretary). A welcome was extended by the chairman to Mr N. Curry who had been appointed Kia Toa’s delegate vice Mr M.. Strange, repeptly elected honorary treasurer in succession to Mr A. Garry. . . . Various clubs notified their intention of competing at the country clubs’ championships. The Manawatu Club wrote as follows:—“At . the- last meeting of our committee ' a motion was passed in protest - against the Sandon Club in taking late entries for their meeting, thereby not keeping the rules. A protest was entered and the only satisfaction we received was that we‘ were told that we were a lot of ‘squealers. ’ We are of the opinion, that the protest should have been upheld.” —The •letter was referred to tne Sandon Club. * /It was decided to ask sub-centres with teams at the country clubs’ championships to appoint delegates to attend a conference to discuss sports meetings. Messrs Turnbull and Aisher were appointed to represent Manawatu.
