HEAVY RAIN.

The somewhat extraordinary ■ rainfall (for New Zealand) of nearly nine inches in the space of a few hours is reported from Haralceke, in the iiotueka district. The flood waters in the Moutere district quickly disappeared to-day and all transport services are running as usual. The Spooners Range railway tunnel mouth has been cleared of slips and train seryices have been resumed.- At Harakeke (Lower Moutere), 8.65 inches, of rain was recorded on Wednesday morning tip to nine o’clock.
