BULLS.

RUGBY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, April 8. On Saturday Bulls Football Club sent a mixed team to Foxton, where a friendly gamo was played, Foxton winning by 21 points to nil. The winners were superior in tho back division, but Bulls forwards rather more than held their own, and when tho fifteen is made up to full strength in tho rearguard it will bo a very strong one. Preston, the new forward from Mannwatu, proved to be a go<}d hooker, and will be a valuable addition to the local team. The ground at Foxton, in common with these in this sub-union, was very hard, and several players lost quantities of skin through meeting Mother Earth during tho course of the game. Owing to tlio hardness of the playing areas, tho junior competition, which was to havo commenced on April 9, has been deferred until April 16, and the management committee will decide at this Wednesday’s meeting whether it will be advisable to start tho senior grade competitions on tho appointed date, April 12. Tho feeling here seems to bo that it will be time enough to commence serious games after . Easter. i MOTOR CAR DESTROYED. A fivo-seater motor car, occupied by two ladies and two gentlemen, all of Palmerston North, caught firo on the Parcwanui Road at about seven o’clock on Sundny evening. The mishap was caused by a backfire, and tho car was immediately enveloped in flames, the occupants having to make a hurried exit. After being hospitably treated by Mr and Mrs J. H. Whisker, tho motorists were conveyed to Bulls, whero thoy were met by a Palmerston North car . and conveyed to their homes, i “OFF TO ENGLAND.” i Mr and Mrs Alec. Amon, of Scott’s Forry, Parcwanui, accompanied by Miss Amon, left on Monday morning by car for Wellington, whero they will connect with Wednesday's steamer leaving for England. The party were farcwellcd by friends, and carried with them best wishos for a safe and pleasant trip.
