STARR-BOWKETT SOCIETY.
LOANS APPROVED. Mr J. B. Gerrand presided over the monthly meeting of directors of the Starr-Bowkett Building Society, which was held last evening. Others present were Messrs M. A. Eliott, F. Jackson, D. Morrison and S. J. Watson. A ballot for a free-of-interest loan was held, Mr J. S. Mail, Palmerston North being the successful shareholder. Tenders for £6OO at £2O per cent were accepted in No. 7 group, and a tender for £IOOO at £3l per cent, was accepted in No. 9 group. A loan for £SOO was finally passed in No. 3 group and £3OO in No. 5 group. Two loans, £3OO and £IOOO, were approved in No 6 group and £SOO completed in No. 8 group. The opening date for the new group was fixed as June 3 and shares will bo' accepted up -to that day: The shares applied for were allotted.
