The following report was wade'by the county engineer (ilr K. L. Harding):—Ea stern Riding: 'The work of (sealing the highway Itas been completed; also the section of the G rea 11 ord - Wood vil! e highway from Wycherley’s corner to the Manawatu Gorge. Preparation work on the Taonui-Lunnythorpe section has Ice/i completed and the contractor* are at present applying the first coat of road oil. The black bridge on the Palmerston North Road his been widened six feet. An old wooden culvert on Heriagfjart’s Road has been replaced with two feet pipes. Gravel repair* have been carried out on Watershed, Greenhow’s. Henaghan’s and Grove and Tionui Roads, TTie resurfacing of the footpath* along the main street at Ash hurst, and also the footpath hr the railway station has been completed. Western riding: The work of cleaning out /fthabolton Road drain has been put in hmd. The large concrete culvert* on Makino Road and Reid’s Line have been completed, and a start is now, being made with the work of replacing in concrete the two large culverts :4 Ouepuhi. McKay’s Line has been widened with the grader and similar work his been carried out on Roots and Pharasyn Street*. Two hundred yards of gravel from the crushing plant at Menv.ie’s bridge have been delivered on Makino Road and Reid's Line, and teams are at present carting out a dump of 400 yards of gravel on the Makino Road at Ridgelands. A contract has been let for the supply of 800 yard* of gravel on Makino Road and Wilson’s Line. The grader has been going continuously and attention is being given to the work of cutting back watertables, etc., on the side roads, in preparation for the wet season. —Adopted.
