TOKOMARU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TOKOMARU, April 7. Miss Altree has been tho. guest of Mr and Mrs W. Pope. Mrs Moore, of Auckland, is visiting relatives in the district. Mrs N. Whyte and her son Peter are holidaying at Plimmerton while Mr Whyte is away deer-stalking. On Wednesday last the Women’s Institute held their monthly meeting in the local hall when a large number of members were present. Mrs -Burt was in charge of the stall at which all articles was sold for 6d and which proved a great success. Mrs Waring Taylor, of Shannon, gave a very interesting lecture on Angora rabbits. Tho hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Baylis and Miss H. Gioyn. On Tuesday evening tho parents and school teachers held a euchre party and dance in connection with the school children’s trip to the zoo in Wellington. Two competitions were held and tho winners were: Mr H. Parr, cushion; Master Dennis Reach, cake. The lucky card players were:' Ladies, Mr® _H. Morgan, Miss ' Patrick, comsolation. Gentlemen, Mr J. McCluro 1; Mr B. Walden, consolation. The musio was supplied by an orchestra and extras by Miss J._Bree. Mr R. Baylis acted as M.C. On Saturday next the local football team will play' the Foxton juniors on the Tokomaru recreation grounds, tho match being the first game in the competition.
