Per Press Association. GISBORNE, April 4. In tho Police Court, Michael Patrick Anthony Herlihy, aged 24, on six charges of theft of articles from hotel bedrooms, was sentenced to three months’ hard labour. Accused is at present on probation for burglary m May of 1928. and has three other previous convictions. Per Press Association. NAMIER, April 1. At the inquest concerning the death of Rudolph Eras, an cx-member of Scotland Yard, a verdict was returned that tho deceased met his death as the result of poison self-administered. Per Press Association. ROTORUA, April .4. John Henry Sunnex, aged 22, a bush worker, employed by the National Timber Company, Ngongotaha, was killed by a hauler rope in the bush. The ‘ hauler was taking a heavy angle pull when the block broke, and the rope, rebounding from an intervening tree, struck the deceased and killed him instantly. An inquest will be held tomorrow. , . Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 4. The dispute which lias rendered the Dobson coal mine at Westland idle for nearly a month lias been referred to a Board of Inquiry under the Coal Mines Act. Tho board was set up on Thursday by the Minister of Mines, Hon. W. A. Veitcli, and will begin its sittings in about a week. CHRISTCHURCH, April 4. The Labour Party has decided to go into opposition on the City Council and resign all chairmanships of committees. This is tho sequel to the recent by-election. Labour has been in control of the council for tho past three years. '
