(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, March 31. The celebrations in connection with tho Presbyterian Church continue to be well attended. On Sunday last harvest thanksgiving services were held. The preacher was Rev. W. H. Nicholas who conducted both evening and morning services. Next Sunday Rev. Dr Gibb, of Wellington, will preach at both services. ... Mr R. Johnston, of Manaia, was a visitor to Foxton over the week-end. Miss E. Owen returned to Wellington yesterday after spending a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs R. Owen, of Foxtorf. Captain L. Hayes, of the Marine Department, is at present in Foxton in furtherance of his investigations in connection with the whitebait. The local junior footballers were afforded a “pipe-opener” on Saturday when Rangiotu juniors, tho Kuias, visited Foxton to try conclusions with tho home team in a friendly match on Easton Park. The game resulted in a win for Foxton by eighteen points to three. Mr W. Neville was in charge of the whistle. On Saturday next Bulls seniors are sending a team down to meet the local fifteen when a good game is expected. On Saturday evening the Foxton Surf and Life-Saving Club held a successful dance in the Masonic Hall which was well attended. Dancing was indulged in until midnight and an enjoyable time was spent by all present. During the evening a competition for a box of chocolates was won by Mr J. Huff. On Sunday the club held practices on the local beach. Land drill was practised and afterwards both A and B teams had a run out. April 1. Mr Tyer, of Wellington, was a visitor to Foxton on Monday. Mrs and Miss Tyer will remain in Foxton for a few weeks before returning to the Empire City. The vital statistics for Foxton for the month of March, with the figures for the corresponding period of last year in parentheses, are as follow: Births, 5 (4); deaths, 2 (3); marriages, 1 (1). The figures for the quarter ending March 31st are as follow, tho figures for last year being given in parentheses: Births, 16 (16); deaths, 3 (8); marriages, 3 (1); Maori births, nil (2); deaths, 1 (2). During March rain fell locally on four days a total of .88in. being recorded. The maximum fall was .68in. on the 9th. The coldest days were the 27th and 28th when tho thermometer registered 53 degrees. At a meeting of tho committee of the Football Club Mr L. Robinson presided. It was resolved that the delegates bo instructed to vote at the next meeting of the Horowhenua Union for an age limit of 18 years for fourths and an unlimited age for thirds. It was decided to forward a request to the Borough Council to erect an additional light in Easton Park, it being considered that this would be not only an advantage to footballers, but would afford other sports bodies facilities for holding night sports on the park.
