They immediately went away. The shooting was reported to the Mascot police. Detective-Sergeant Coming and Sergeant Madden and Constables Lenahan and Cobbe visited the house. The woman opened the door when they assured her that they were police officers. After being questioned she was arrested. AVhen the house was searched a double-barrel shotgun, with the barrels still hot, was found in the room. The house reeked of fumes from the exploded powder. Subsequently the woman, who, it was stated, has live children, was charged with shooting at the bailiffs with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm. Her husband has been unemployed for some time.
