TARIFF TRUCE.
FRENCH OPPOSITION. Received March 10, 10. S a.m. GENEVA, March 10. At a plenary session of the Tariff Truce Conference, M. Flandin, the French Minister of Commerce, rejected the British proposal for a tariff truce and proposed that : France, Germany, and Belgium continue their existing commercial treaties until April, 1931. Meanwhile, countries not possessing commercial treaties should not impose new duties and not increase existing ones. M. Flandin added that France believed that all States should abandon indirect protection, and suppress dumping and export bounties. The proposals were referred to the committee.
