METHODIST CONFERENCE.

STATUS STAFFING OF CIRCUITS. Per Press Association. WELLLINGTON, Feb. 21. Tho Methodist Church conference, as tho result of a ballot, elected the following lay representatives to the conference stationary connnitteo:— Auckland district, Messrs A. Peak, T. Clark; South Auckland, Messrs J. E. Tidd and J. T. Bryant; Taranaki-Wanganui, Messrs T. P. Hughson and F. Webb-Jones; Hawke’s Bay-Manawatu, Messrs T. R. Hoddor and W. Rose; Wellington, Messrs W. H. Johnson and H. Dixon; Nelson, Messrs F. H. Southgate and S. Gorman; North Canterbury, Messrs A. Williams and H. Holland; South Canterbury, Messrs Bruce Logan and H C. Bailey Withell; OtagoSouthland, Messrs D. C. Cameron and G. A. Pearce; Solomon Islands, Mr W. S. McKay; extra representative, Mr R. C. Clark. The good work accomplished by the Auckland Central Mission was tho subject of approving comment, and to further encourage aggressive work there, and in view of the promises of financial assistance from business men, it was decided that the mission bo raised to the status of a cire lit, and that an ordained minister and a married homo missionary bo appointed, with a sirtable home-mission grant. After prolonged discussion the conference agreed to the designation of Rev. G. J. Laurenson, of Cashmere Hills, Christchurch, as assistant superintendent of homo missions, tho appointment to take effect in 1931. Having completed their probationary course, Revs. J. H. Hall and G. R. Harris were unanimously received by conference as ministers in full connexion, to bo ordained during tho conference. The following students wore received as ministers on probation: Revs J. M. Blight, W. J. Court, J. C. Draper, E. C. Leadley, M. A. McDowell, J. W. Parker and W. G. Parker. It was resolved to grant the application of Rev. H. L. Blannrcs to bocomo a supernumerary and to give the same status for one year to Revs. A. Mitchell and J. Harris. Rev. F. G. Brown’s request to visit England in 1931 was granted. Thero being no business sossion of tho conference last evening, owing to tho sitting of the Stationing Committeeman op in air evangolistic meeting was held in Lower Taranaki Street. The mooting was conducted by Rev. B. J. James, and addresses were delivered by the Revs. E. T. Cox, M.A., and E. S. Emmett. Tho singing and speaking attracted a considerable audience.
