DUNEDIN, Aug. 27. At the meeting of New Zealand Society of Accountants Mr J. L. Griffin (Wellington) was elected president for the ensuing year. Mr W. D. Revell (Timaru) was re-elected vicepresident.
The council. decided to grant £6O for the current year to Canterbury College and £3O for two years to Hamilton Technical School for assistance in accountancy classes. A lengthy discussion occurred on Wellington remit, moved by Mr E. W. Hunt, urging a revision of the Companies Act to bring it into line with the British Act. All the members supported a revision. It was suggested that a deputation wait on Cabinet in that connection. The matter was referred to the executive committee for immediate iattentipn with power to act. It was decided that the accountants’ convention to be held in Wellington next year should open on February 25. A motion was carried that the executive take steps to have introduced amendments to the regulations in respect of the audit of solicitors’ trust accounts.
