AUSTRALIAN PRODUCTION.
INCREASE IN SEVEN YEARS. WHAT STATISTICS SHOW. Received August 23, 9.10 a.m, SYDNEY, Aug. 23. Statistics contained in the Federal Budget reveal that the production in tho Commonwealth increased in tlie past seven years by £62,000,000 to £432,000,000. Tho movement of the trade balance in favour of the Commonwealth discloses an improvement of £21,000,000. The savings bank deposits rose from £162,000,000 in 1922 to £215,000,000 in 1928. NUMBER OF TELEPHONES. The number, of telephones now in use in Australia is 505,554. Australia .is sixth on the list of telephone density throughout the world,.
