RIVER’S SUDDEN RISE.
THIRTY-FIVE DROWNED
(United Service). Received July 29, 1.50 p.m. CALCUTTA, July 28
Owing to the sudden rise of the Sabarmati River near Aimedabad 35 men, principally washermen were drowned. Attempts at rescue by throwing ropes from a bridge and other places were fruitless. The river is still rising.
