CHILD SUCCUMBS.
CRUSHED BY DRAY. ’A distressing accident, resulting in the death of a child Keith William Brown, the five-year-old son of Mr Charles Henry Brown, junr., employed bv Mr F. Armstrong, Akitio, occurred at the Akitio station on Friday. The child was riding on a dray, driven by Cecil Reid, also employed at the station, when the vehicle went over a bump, causing the boy to fall off A wheel of the dray passed over the body of the boy, inflicting serious injuries. Deceased was taken to Ti Tree Point, where ho was examined by Dr. J. Beedie,-who conveyed him to the Dannevirke Hospital, where an operation was performed. The little fellow definite all that medical skill could do for him, died at 6.15 p.m. Death was due to a ruptured liver as the result of the accident.
