BOXING.
CONTESTS AT AUCKLAND
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 3
Two professional ten-rounds boxing contests for purses of £75 each were staged at the Town Hall to-night. Jn the first, Matt Hatton (Auckland) defeated Joe Boyle (Australia) on points, after the bout had gone the full distance. It was a poor exhibition, the referee having twice to warn the contestants to fight. In the second contest Frank Taylor (Auckland) defeated Cyril HtirnefAVellington) on points. This was a bright exhibition from start to finish, and Hurne did well for his first appearance in a professional ring.
