FITZHERBERT NOTES.

FITZHERBERT, April 11. Last Wednesday week Mrs and Miss Pinfold entertained the young ladies of Aokautere and their mothers and friends at an afternoon tea given in honour of Miss J. Cogswell who was recently married. Afternoon tea was served on the lawn and a pleasant time was spent, there being several musical items to enliven the proceedings. During an interval Miss Pinfold asked Miss Cogswell to accept a brass fruit bowl and a vase from the young ladies of the district, and in a few well chosen words extended a hearty welcome to Miss Cogswell and wished her all happiness and prosperity in her future life in Aokautere. Miss Cogswell thanked the donors for their beautiful gift and for the kind thoughts that had prompted Mrs and Miss Pinfold to invite her thero to meet the young ladies and others amongst whom she was to make her future home. On Wednesday evening, April 3rd, there was a large gathering at the local hall when Mr and Mrs W. F. Field entertained their friends at an evening to commemorate the occasion of the marriago of their son, Kenneth Wilfred, which had taken place that day. An enjoyable time was spent in song and dance, and items were given by Miss Andrews, Chrissie Field, Nifa Brill and Mr C. Robotham. The following were amongst those present: —Miss Field, vieux rose georgette and black satin; Miss Nancy Field, lavender crepe de chine; Miss Gosling, black crepe de chine; Miss Tui Gosling, blue crepe do chine; Miss Vowell, red crepe de chine; Miss Lankshear, green georgette and silver tissue; Miss C. Lankshear, blue crepe do chine; Miss Wilson, pink taffeta; Miss Rowden, pink crepe de chine; Miss Anderson, pink crepe de chino with lace; Miss Shirley, pink crepe de chine; Miss Williams, lavender georgette and floral taffeta; Mies Gough, pink crepe de chine; Miss Andrews, pink crepe de chino with lace.
