COMBINED FIRMS v. FARMERS
A return cricket match was played yesterday between an eleven from Pohangina farmers and representatives of Messrs Dalgety and Co. and the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. Batting first, the combined firms made 104 (W. Young 44, L. Spring 39, McNeil 32, R. Page 20) to wnich the farmers replied with 136 (Fitzherbert 58, C. Spelman 18, D. apeiman 18)." Bowling for the firms, Saywell took eight wickets for 52 runs, while for the farmers, Fitzherbert took four wickets for 53 and C. Speiman three for 47. Rain in the atternoon made the wicket dead, but the .play was interesting on .account of tire close score.
