GENERAL DAWES FOR BRITAIN. OFFICIAL FROM WHITE HOUSE. (Australian Press Association-—United Service). Received April 11. 9.16 a.m. WASHINGTON, April 10. The appointment of General Charles Gates Dawes, the former Vice-Presi-dent, as Ambassador to Britain was announced at White House to-day. The State Department has received word that General Dawes will accept the appointment, which is subject to confirmation by the Senate. The appointment is being well received m diplomatic circles. General Dawes will said for England in June.
