THE RANGE OF PRICES.

BROKERS’ REPORTS. ABRAHAM AND WILLIAMS AND WRIGHT, STEPHENSON AND CO. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., and Wright, Stephenson and Co., .Ltd., report as follows:—The fourth and final wool sale of the season was held yesterday when we ottered a catalogue of 2426 bales out of a total offering of 7432 bales. There was a good bench of buyers and the demand was good throughout the sale. Included in our catalogue' were several bright wellgrown clips which sold at satisfactory prices and with keen competition. As is usual in the last sale of the season, there was a fair amount of late shorn fleece and lambi’ wool carrying a lot of seed. This was suitable to the Continent, which secured the bulk of the ottering. .We again secured a considerable lot of interlotted wools, whereby small growers had the benefit of selling their odd bales in large lots, thereby commanding the same. competition as the large growers: As compared with the last sale we quote the 'market firm and in some cases with a‘rising tendency. Following are some of our. be9t prices realised:—JP-M, 7 super KB, 16Jd; 7 AH, 15Jd;-27 A, 15Jd; 5 AW, 14id'; 23 D, 13Jd; 20 nks, 123 d: 5 C, 12 Jd; 19 D, 12id; 6DW, 12d; 24 pcs., 11 Jd; 8 bis., 10d; One Tree Hill, 15 S.D., 16Jd; DM-D, 8 SD bis., 16id; 30 E, 13; NK-Nuku, 14 A bis., 163 d; 13 FH, 16d; 20 AAH, 15Jd; 11 FXB, l£jd; 29 AA, 15Jd; 19 A, 143 d; 8 AH, 14Jd; 8 B, 14d; 4 Dgy H, 13Jd; 5 B bis., 13Jd; 5 nks., 13Jd; 10 pcs. llfd; 12 bis., 103 d; JM/J, 2 DX bis., 16d; Merchiston, 4 H, 153 d; 10 AH, 14d; ,4 B bis., 12d; Toatoa, 7 FXB, 15Jd; 7 AAH, 151 d; 14 AA, 14id; 8 AH, 133 d; 4 DA, 133 d;, 9 A, 13Jd; 6 B, 123 d; DP/R, 2 COR H, 15d; ABB/M, 1A bis., 143 d; Big Hill, 3 A bis., 143 d; Houhre, 3 A bis., 143 d; Cluny, 1A bis., 143 d; Aberfoldy, 40 AE, 14Jd; 10 AW, 14d; 8 A bis., 13Jd; 12 XBD, 13id; CW/R, 4 'bis.', 14id; JDL/Micurl, 1 DX bis., 14Jd; EH/Puketiro, 13 AAE, 14d; 27 AE,‘ 13Jd; 5 bis., 9Jd;.De Ratas, 4 E, 14d; Rotoitoi, 8 AAH, 133 d; 20 AA, 133 d; 5 bis., 13id; 7 AH, 13d; 17 A, 12Jd; 14 B, 12d; Kaituna, 10 AH, 133 d; 10 A, 13Jd; •CP/Mararioa, 14 A, 13Jd; 5 B, 123 d; De Somersal, 21 E 13Jd; CC/ltakataua, 24 A, 131 d; 23 B, 12Jd; GG/M, 5 AXB, 13d; PJS/ Erua, 1 XB, 12Jd; 1 bis., Old; 1 B pcs., 63d; JJX, 9 XB, 12d; WD, 12d; Challenge/Wanganui, ASD, I7d; BSD, 131 d; SD bis., 16d, 14id, 123 d, 12d; A bis., 143 d; AH. LOAN AND MERCANTILE COY. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report that a good bench of buyers operated keenly for all lines suitable for their requirements. The result was that

they were successful in disposing of the whole of their catalogue at satisfactory . prices. The wool drawn from the Wanganui, Taranaki,. Rangitikei and Main Trunk districts mostly constituted back-country grown wools and oddments, but practically no super wools were on offer. The major portion of the catalogue was seedy ana heavy conditioned, and as usual with a cleaning up sale quite a large proportion of tlie catalogues comprised seedy lambs', and for these, the Continent was the chief operator. The market, compared with last Wanganui sale on February 27, showed little or no change for fleece wool, but for seedy lambs’ prices were distinctly firmer. Some of the lines sold by the firm were as follow: —JH/S, H 13Jd; JHB/T, H 15d, E 13Jd; LHSA It, H, 123 d; E&W, 123 d; JD, H 12jd; TL/R, H and FW 13id; Mona/L, H 133 d; Kevern, HW 14Jd, E 14jd; GWB/Woawhango and RTB/Ngatarua, H 15id; GTP, Down 163 d; JWH, Down 17d; Morikau/OA, lambs, A 143 d; Kaka/F and JB, HB 12Jd; Mokoia DN, H 14Jd; HE/M, H 123 d; W 12Jd, E 12Jd; WS/C, AA 16d, A 15d; UL/lt, HW 13Jd, E 123 d; VB, crossbred 133 d. Binned wool: Castle— DN, lambs, 17d; DN, B lambs, 15|dj AFT, AA 153 d, B 13id. LEVIN AND CO. Levin and Co., Ltd., report that competition was strongei- than was generally expected. Trance was particularly prominent and bid freely on all grades of lambs’ wool, bellies and pieces. Compared with the February sale the movements were as follow:—Fine crossbred, 46/48, par ro id lower; inferior, par; medium crossbred, 44/46, super Jd lower; medium crossbred average, par to id lower; medium crossbred, inferior, Jd to Id higher; coarse crossbred, 40/44, super par to id lower; coarse crossbred, average, Jd higher, inferior par ; low crossbred, 36/40, average and inferior, par to Jd higher. Hoggets were not in sufficient quantities to warrant quotation. Lambs’ wool was very erratic, but most lots that were passed in at last sale were sold at an advance yesterday. The following are some of the principal results: —Temaire over W, 7 bales 13$d, 4 bales 14d; PW, b bales 13Jd; HR/Brooklands, 11 bales 133 d, 4 bales 13J(I; WF, 7 bales 13Jd, 4 bales 13Jd; Arrow R. 51 bales 14Jd; CN over Turak, 4 bales 13Jd; ET/Riverdale, 6 bales 143 d, 4 bales IOJd, 7 bales 153 d, 4 bales lOid; TTS, Ltd., 13 .bales 13Jdf G- 8/0, 9 bales. Dalgety and Company report that generally it was a poor selection of’ heavy-conditioned fleece wools with .a large proportion of medium and seedy pieces and a good quantify of seedy lambs’ wool. A fair bench of buyers was in attendance and competition was fairly animated, Bradford and Germany taking most of the fleece, with France and local scourers operating freely on seedy lambs and pieces. A good" clearance was effected. Medium free fleece wool, also seedy fleece, sold well, rates generally being Jd higher than in February. Owing to the small quantity of good free fleece offered it is difficult to quote a comparison, a few lots passed at last sale bringing less money and again other parcels brought more. On the day the poorer and seedy fleece wools sold relatively better than the good wools. Seedy lambs’ wool was irregular, but good clearances were effected at rates on a par with February. The bellies and pieces catalogued were unattractive, being mostly heavy in condition and dull and seedy. Local scourers were the principal buyers of these. Considering the quality and condition of the offering tho result of the sale must be termed satisfactory • and the carry over of passed wools will now be a negligible quantity. Some of our principal sales are as under: Lismore, 7 bales hoggets 16d, 4 bales B hoggets 15Jd, 14 bales A ewes 15d, 16 bales, bellies 103 d.; MC/Waipuna, 4 bales hoggets 15d; Puranui, 17 bales ewes 14id; HM/Temere, 8 bales A ewes 14Jd; Momo, 5 bales B ewes 14Jd; B/\VR. ewes, Ltd; PJK/R, 4 bales crossbred 14Jdj WNH, 4 bales Southdown 16d; FMH, 4 hales crossbred 15jd: DT/M. 8 bales crossbred 14id; JVP/r, 7 bales crossbred 13id.
