OVAL AT SHOWGROUNDS.
SUGGESTED EVENING SPORTS. Speaking at the annual meeting of the Manawatu A. and J?. Association yesterday Mr J. Linklater, M.P., referred to the question of finance, and said that there was a ’great source of untapped revenue in the oval at the Showgrounds if it were lighted and made available for evening sports. It was understood that these functions had been very successful in Wellington and there was no reason why they could not be so in Palmerston North. The matter would have to be considered by the committee at a later date.
