RECTOR’S ESTATE.
MONEY LEFT FOR BOYS’ CLOTHING. Rev. John Gwyon, rector of Bisley (Surrey), who died before Christmas, left an estate worth £9976 to found a trust for the exclusive purpose of providing boys with knickers. A committee each Easter is empowered to appoint a tailor giving the best value to prepare a tailor-made or ready-made knickers for every boy between 10 and 18 years residing in the Faruham district, if he is not receiving charitable relief. Black boys are excluded, but’ difference in religion is no disqualification. “Gwyon’s Present” must be marked inside the lining of the .knickers, the recipient of which must not destroy the inscription, otherwise lie debars himself from the receipt of a pair next year. When Gwyon, who. was 60, and single, died, his congregation had dwindled to a handful. He lived for years in one room over the post , office.
