LIVING CONDITIONS FOR CREW. DESCRIBED AS APPALLING. £ Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 9. “The living conditions lor the crew on, the Government motor ship Maui Pomare have been described to me as simply appalling, and I have wired the Premier asking for an independent inquiry, sain Mr' W. Wallace, chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, to-day. The Premier replied that an inquiry would be made immediately. . The latest development is the acinussion of tho chief engineer to the emeigency hospital from his home.
