STRUCK BY CAR.
GRAVE INJURIES SUSTAINED. ACCIDENT IN A HASTINGS ~ . 'STREET. Per Press Association. NAPIER, April 1. Grave injuries were sustained oy Mr James Currie, a bachelor, aged 6(f, through being knocked down and run over in Heretaunga Street, Hastings, shortly after six o’clock to-night, by an unidentified motor-car. Mr Currie, it is believed, was riding a bicycle near tho curb on the correct side when a car struck him head-on. Nobody saw the accident, and the injured man himself was unable to give an account of the happening. The car disappeared into the night without stopping, . leaving Mr Currie veiy badly injured and his cycle a wreck. Mr Currie was taken to the Napier Hospital, where his condition to-night was reported to be critical.
