MR BALDWIN’S PROGRAMME. (Australian Press Association.) LONDON, March 30. “Mr Baldwin does not intend to outbid Mr Lloyd George,” states the Daily Telegraph. “His election programme will include a plan to increase employment and aim at permanent work of a Kind for which men are accustomed and best fitted. There will be no ‘fairy-tale, vote-catching* policy, but the programme will include a comprehensive scheme to deal with slums, and a promise, if returned, to intro-.' duce simplified safeguards, under wihch no industry will be debarred from presenting a case to the tribunal.” YEAR’S SURPLUS. (Australian Press Association—United Service.) LONDON. March 30. The revenue for 1928-29 shows a surplus of £18,391,463. The surplus compares with an estimate of £14,502,000. The revenue was £858,104,055. the expenditure £682,200,158, and the sinking fund £57,509,434.
