BOWLING
MANAWATU TOURNAMENT.
LEADING SECTION PLAYERS
When the seventh round of the Manawatu Bowling Centre’s Easter bowling tournament ended this morning, only three of the 38 rinks competing had survived with only one loss, .and they were skipped by G. Wardrop (Woodville), C. Norwood (Victoria), and N. H. Nash (Palmerston North). Two more rounds have to be decided this afternoon before section play ends, and the rinks, engaged in the various sections are, on the average, in fairly even positions. - The reverses suffered unexpectedly by the leading rinks have been a remarkable feature of the tournament, and the results have been very uncertain. The greens were still playing well this morning, and the standard of bowling was high. After this morning's play in the seventh round, Wardrop (Woodville) advanced to the position of leader in Section A, scoring his sixth win by defeating Crump (Palmerston North) heavily, when the latter was disputing the leadership in the section. Five other rinks were close behind, requiring only one win each to come on level terms with the leader. The issue looked , very open in Section B, where three rinks each had five wins. In Section C, the Victoria rink skipped by Norwood was on level terms with that skipped by N. B. Nash, each having secured six wins. Refreshments have been provided at each green by the clubs, and at the Palmerston North green the work has been undertaken by Mesdames A. F. Wimsett, L. Brown and P. Morris. Details of the seventh round are as follow: SECTION A. (Seventh Round.) Thompson 20 v. Taylor 15; Brackenridge 24 v. Galliehan 14; Wardrop 20 v. Crump 6; Noad 24 v. Teale 7; Davidson 21 v.
