ATHLETICS.
(Australian. Press Association.—United Service.) NEW YORK, March 30. A trans-Continental foot race to Los Angeles will begin hero to-morrow. The prizes total 60,000 dollars, 25,000 of which go to the winner and 10,000 to the competitor placed seconid. There are 167 entrants, the youngest of whom is 21 and the oldest 63. The race is expected to last over three months. At Dallas, Claude Bracey set a new unofficial world record for a 100 yards dash in 9 4-10 sec. It is not expected ijjliat it will be accepted by the International Federation, since he had an aiding wind. There were several watches timing Bracey.
