t PIRATES BEAT K!A TOA. After a game that was full of interest until the final whistle, a team from Kia Toa Club, which visited Wanganui on Saturday, was defeated by 11 points to 10 by a team from the Pirates Club. Although neither team was up to full senior strength, both gave displays that were considerably better than was anticipated and the spectators witnessed an excellent match.. The winning team’s score comprised a try by Ball, converted by James, an unconverted try by Williams, and a penalty goal by Ball. Kia Toa’s points were a try by Conrad, converted by Mullins, and a try by Morgan, also converted by Mullins. Mr J. Richardson controlled the game. In the evening, the visiting team were the guests of the Pirates’ Club at a dinner, at which Mr Louis Cohen, the well-known Wanganui enthusiast, presided.
