LABOUR PLATFORM.
ANNUAL REPORT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 1. The .annual report at the Labour Conference states that while the party agrees with some planks of the Government’s policy it opposes the Government’s attitude with regard to .State trading and says that the Labour Party will use all its resources to conserve the benefits of the farseeing legislation of earlier statesmen, while at the same time doing all in its power to extend every public service that will give a greater return to the community. With regard to unemployment, the annual report of the Labour Party states that “whereas the United Party promised to abolish unemployment it has been in charge for. three months and the unemployment figures and the resultant distress are greater than ever. Unless the Government sees that reasonable rates are paid on relief works it will be placed where Reform now lies.” The report says that if intermittent employment is inevitable then an insurance fund should be established at once rto- sustain children the mothers and to maintain homes.
