LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
PROPOSED METROPOLITAN BOARD. 1 Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 28. The desirability of forming a metropolitan board to carry out the main functions of local government in the Auckland city and suburban districts was discussed at .a largely-attended meeting of representatives of the suburban local bodies and citizens’ committee set up to deal with the matter. The following resolution was carried: “We affirm the principle of a metropolitan board, and consider that the time is opportune to launch ,a campaign to bring the scheme before the electors/for their support.” A sifb-committee was appointed to draw up a statement covering the proposal, and explaining the principles of the board.
