AUDACIOUS THEFT.

MONEY STOLEN FROM HOUSE. . BAG HUNG ON BLIND CORD. : AUCKLAND, March 30. Wearing rubber-soled shoes, an audacious thief jumped through the front window of the home of a resident in Plunket Road, Mount Eden, about eight o’clock the other evening, and stole £9 in a purse. A young woman, who had been resting in' the room, lei* it tor about 20 minutes, and it was while she was away that the man committed the theft. The money belonged to a working girl who was staying at the house. Detectives who investigated the affair soon after it was reported to the police concluded that the man watched tlie woman from outside and made use ot the opportunity given when she left the room. A peculiar feature of the theft was that the man hooked the handbag on the window blind cord before departing. No one in the house heard the thief, but when the young woman re-entered the room she tounu that the bag had been emptied. There were footprints in the room, but the window, which had been leit wide open, had not been disturbed. The bag was found hitched on the blind cord, instead of being on the bed or dressing table. Outsiue the window several imprints were seen.
