RUGBY STARS.

RETURNING TO AUSTRALIA,

ENGLISH TROUBLES,

Complications are likely to ensuo (says a London correspondent) owing to A. Carr and S. Harris, the Australian Rugby League stars, leaving for home on the Osterley on March 16. “Their three years’ engagement with tho Huddersfield Club is only half completed.”

The statement is mado by tho club that Carr injured the cartilage of tho lcneo on Boxing Day. Ho refused to risk an operation, deciding that ho would go to Australia to rest, and if he recovered he would return to play next season.

Harris’s case is different. He last played on December 23, and has not since been selected, owing to his indifferent displays and unfitness. The committee was of opinion that he was insufficiently trained and ordered him to get fitter. The statement adds: “It will be interesting to see what steps will bo taken to enforce the agreement.” The Yorkshire Observer says: “The club, after the removal of the residential qualification, enterprisingly paid Carr and Harris £6OO as a signing on fee and £6 for each match. They have not received value for the outlay. Carr was unlucky with accidents, but was popular with the spectators. Harris, despite his Australian reputation for brilliancy in attack, has not given satisfaction in that respect. “Another Australian, Mills, has also had differences with the Huddersfield committee, but has settled them, with the result that he will play for another season.”
