Mr Ames then plans a series of other fights with the object of matching Cook again with Uzcudun. Cook stated -with regard to his European tour, said: “There are no great heavy-weight prospects on the Continnent. Fighters are few and far between there.” HEENEY PROGRESSING. (Australian Press Association). NEW YORK, March 28. Tom Heeney, who has been undergoing treatment in a local hospital for anemifl, and an infected lip, is reported to be making favourable progress. It is expected that he will shortly leave the institution. LIGHT-HEAVY TITLE. LOUGHRAN BEATS WALKER. (Australian Press Association.) CHICAGO, March 29. Tommy Loughran retained the world’s light-heavy championship when he received the decision in ten rounds over Micky Walker, the middleweight champion. The verdict, though popular, seemed to leave a difference of opinion among the onlookers, ajso among the officials. The fight was not exciting for the most part. Walker was most aggressive throughout and landed the most damaging blows. Loughran seemed decededly less impressive than a year ago, being flighty and at one time groggy, and desperately on the defensive.

A wireless description of the contest between Loughran and Walker was received yesterday by Mr R. L. Jones, of Lyall Bay. Wellington. Mr Jones reports that the wireless message, which was received at 4.40 p.m., New Zealand time, was crystal clear. The contest was described as one of the most thrilling ever seen in the Chicago Stadium, which was packed, to the doors. The battle went the full' ten rounds, Loughran receiving the verdict on points and thus retaining his title.
