FOXTON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, March 27. The shop day held last Saturday by the ’ local Natives in aid of the fund for the j visit of the Native bishop over Easter was ! quite successful. The three efforts have netted £22 6s. A concert was held last ■ evening in aid of the fund. The Bishop ! will address meetings at Matakarapa durj ing his stay here and arrangements are well in hand for a big meeting over the holidays. On Saturday one of the Plunket Carnival committees held ,a shop day in Main Street. Beautiful weather prevailed for the opening of the Herrington golf links on Saturday and there wero visitors present from Shannon and Levin. Mixed foursomes were indulged in and at the afternoon tea adjournment the president (Mr M, B. Borgin) thanked the visitors for their attendance and expressed the hope that the club would have a successful year. He said that the club had secured the services of a professional coach during the month of April and he hoped that players would avail ' themselves of this opportunity of improving their Btylo. The committee had decided to. hold mixed foursomes at intervals during the season and this should prove of great social benefit to members. Mr Borgin then presented the trophy won that afternoon to Mrs Clark (Levin) and Mr W. Roach (Foxton). Mrs Clark suitably replied'and> at the same time returned thanks to the Foxton Club on behalf of tho visitors for the enjoyable time they had had and thanked the club for its hospitality.
