“CAPTAIN BARKER” FACES PERJURY CHARGE. (Australian Press Association). Received March 28, 12.5 p.m. LONDON. March 27. “Captain Ivor Victor Barker,” the celebrated masquerader, w,as to-day committed for trial on a charge of perjury. Bail was allowed. The accused fainted when the Magistrate announced his decision. The Court was crowded with women, the majority of them being in their earlv twenties. The principal witness was Miss Haward whom “Captain Barker” allegedly married. Her appearance deeply affected the accused, who was convulsed with sobs. Miss Ha ward swore that she believed “Captain Barker” to be a man.
