MANAWATU CLUB’S MEETING. The Manawatu Amateur Athletic sports meeting was held on the Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon in perfect weather. There was a good public attendance and the whole programme of events was of interest throughout. Results were as follow : - Half mile cycle handicap.—First heat: G. Drinkwater (75yds.) 1, E. J. Lett (35) 2; time, lmin. 12 3-ssecs. Second heat: E- Eaton (90) I,_ M. Donald (15) 2; time, lmin. 14 3-ssecs. Final: Drinkwater 1, Donald 2, Lett 3. Time, lmin. ISsecs. 100 \ards Handicap.—First heat: Eddy (4J yards) 1, 0. Doel (6) 2, W. L. Grey (7) 3. Time, lOsecs. Second heat: C. T. Pears© (5 yards) 1, Cameron (6) 2, Johnston (10) 3. Time, lOsecs. Final: Eddy 1, Cameron 2, Doel 3. Time, lOsecs. An excellent race, all finishing almost in a line. 100 vards schoolboys’ championship (Glaxo ‘Cup).—Evans (Terrace End) 1, Oliver (College Street) 2, Ward, (Terraco End) 3. Time, 13 l-ssecs. Won by a yard. 75 yards ladies’ handicap.—First heat: Aliss M. Baliey (8 yards) 1, Miss J. Adamson (8) 2, Miss I. Wright (s£) 3: time, 9 secs. Second heat: Miss G. Jackson (1* vards) 1, Miss G. Matthews (7i) 2, Miss M. Gulliver (4) 3; time, 8 4-ssecs. One mile sub-centre cycle championship.—M. Donald (Manawatu) 1, F. Powell (Kia Toa) 2. O. W. Prouse (Manawatu) 3. Time, 3min, 3 2-ssecs. Won by five lengths, with four lengths between second and third. G. Cooksley (Kia Toa) and N. C. Dixon (Manawatu) came down together in the last lap. Both were in handy positions.
