(From Our Own Corespondent). TIAKITAIIUNA, March 2. Miss M. Robinson and Mr A. White, of Oliakune, are tho guests of Mr and Mrs W. Rowland, “Bloomfield.” Mr L. Parker, who has boon in ill-health for several months, is with Mrs Parker visiting Hastings. Many residents are against carrying water from the splendid artesian well at the cheese, factory, the spell ■of three weeks’ fine weather having exhausted the tank supplies. Tho river at Jackeytown Road is fairly low and an appreciable dropin level has been noticed during tho past week. The loose metal which caused a great deal of trouble on the road has now been graded and rolled and there is now a very fair surface. But. tho sides of the road resemble a ploughed field, making a rough passage for settlers passing in or out of their gateways. It has also mado it very difficult for the mailman to reach the various rural boxes with the consequence that only one call is being made instead of two as , was previously done. It is stated that the road i 6 to roceive a further heavy coat of metal. Colds are at present very prevalent in tho district.
