YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. A sale of New Zealand Paper Mills at 18s 3d, made lato on Thursday, was reported at the morning call yesterday, ; on the Wellington Stock Exchange, and at -the afternoon call another sale of Now Zealand Paper Mills at 18s 3d was reported, also a sale of Union Bank at £ls 8s 6d. Not much business was offering in Government securities, still there were bids of £99 15s for the 4£ per cents. (1938), £lOl 5s for the 5£ per cent, bonds (1933), and £lOl 7s 6d for the 1936 maturity. Wellington Racing Club debentures wore firm at £lO6 10s, and New Zealand Breweries bonds at 26s 2d. f . There was a slightly better inquiry for bank shares than on tho previous. day, with buyers of Bank of Australasia at £ls, Australian Bank of Commerce at 35s 2d, National Bank of New Zealand at £7 3s 6d, and National Bank of Australasia, £l3 paid at £l9 8s and £5 paid at £9 12s. Dalgcty and Co. shares on the Melbourne registers were in demand at £ls 11s 6d. There wero bids of 52s 6d for Goldsbrough Mort, £127 5s for New Zealand Loan and Mercantile, 9s Id for New Zealand Guarantee Corporation, and 10s 9d for Wellington Investment. National Insurance were steady at 16s Id. # A steady demand existed for gas shares, with buyers of Auckland Gas. at 24s 3d, Christchurch Gas at 25s Bd. Gisborne Gas at 9s 9d, and Wellington Gas at 31s. New Zealand Refrigerating, 10s paid, were in demand at.7s 7d, and Wellington Meat Export at 12s. Union Steam were steady at 20s sd, Westport Coal at 325, Kaiapoi Woollen ordinary at 14s Id, Kauri Timber at 17s, and New Zealand Breweries at 57s 9d. Shares in the miscellaneous section were in good demand.
