LOANS MADE RECENTLY. (By Telegraph—Special to Standard ) . WELLINGTON, Feb. 28. The Prime . Minister, when interviewed, to-day, stated that good progress had been made with the work of the State Advances Department. During the period December 10 to February 27 loans had been authorised to 619 settlers and 598 workers, amountiiig to £1,235,765, this money being ready for the applicants. The loans actually paid totalled £413,175 to 311 settlers and £358,975 to 409 workers The new loan money, added to the de- £ a , r^ ei £? ca P ital in the period, was £1,166,850. Asked if any arrears in the loan applications remained, Sir Joseph Ward replied that all the applicants were informed that their applications would receive attention if valuations were made, and there were no arrears to pay. “Over £600,000 a month is a remarkable record,” added Sir Joseph Ward, “and must be an important factor to settlers and workers.”
