SPEEDING MOTOR-CYCLIST. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 29. Chester M. Gray, of Canterbury Collegs, had just won a scholarship. Ho was in a hurry to get home with the good news, and extended his motorcycle to forty miles an hour along Papanui Road. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day he was charged with speed, and made the explanation about his success. The Magistrate: Are you still at Canterbury College? The defendant: Yes. “Well they are supposed to have some ' brains there, aren’t they?” asked, the Magistrate. “We credit the students of Canterbury College with having some brains and using them.” “I had just won a scholarship,” explained the defendant.
