MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Sept. .6. On Tuesday evening the Ohakea Miniature Rifle Club journeyed over to Bulls in quest of tho McKolvio Cup which Bulls had taken from them, and in a most exciting match tho holdors were lucky to retain tho trophy, winning by tho narrow margin of two points. One of tho visitors dropped a snot in tho first rango and tho local team had an overwhelming lead of 17 points, but in tho second range Oliakca Club came to light with a phenomonal score of 548, being 15 up on the homo team. But for their misfortuno in the first rango Ohakea would have scored an easy victory, but they can console thom-solvos-with tho thought that th’ey put up tho record score of tho season, an average of 68.5 per man. After tho shoot the marksmen wero entertained by Mrs C. C. Price, an enthusiastic supporter of tho club, and Mr K. Bailey, of Ohakea, thanked tho hostess for tho hospitality extended to them, and in congratulating tho Bulls Club on their victory, promised an early return match. Mr C. M. Broughton responded on behalf of tho members of tho local club and among tho toasts honoured, tho McKolvio Cup was filled again in honour of Mr V. Edhouso who, for somo timo, has been a keen supporter for both clubs. Tho competition matches with Rangiotu which wero to have taken placo this evening havo been postponed, and tho local, club will send a team across to Aw&huri to shoot in tho Jones Shield match which takes placo to-night. Tho final for Mr V. Edhouso’s trophy was shot for on Tuesday night, tho winnor turning up Mr C. M. Broughton. OHAKEA. Thoro was a good attendance at tho weekly shoot of tho Ohakea Miniature Rifle Club on Monday evening, and the standard of shooting was particularly good, tho first sixteen men having an averago of 135.25, which must bo somewhat a record for a club shoot.
