OROUA DOWNS.
(From Our Own Correspondent). BAINESSE, Sept. 4. Tho friends of Mr W. Colo met at -the hall on Saturday evening to bid him farewell prior to his departure for the Taranaki district. Mr. Cole since his arrival in the Downs district seven years ngo has taken a keen interest in sport and local nmttei'3 generally, and was a willing enthusiast. On behalf of the residents Mr A. Nichols spoke appreciatively of tho guest’s popularity, and asked his acceptance on their behalf, and the footballers also, of a solid leather suit-case as a token of esteem. Mr Cole sunitably replied amid hearty cheers and the singing of “For Ho’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” Dances followed and a most enjoyable evening was spent.
