EXCLUSIVE PARK LANE.

TO BECOME SHOPPING CENTRE.

GIGANTIC SCHEME LAUNCHED

(Australian Press Association). LONDON, Sept. 5. For the conversion of the exclusive Park Lane into a shopping centre, a ■ngantic scheme has been launched by Mr Samuel Wallrock, a past president of the Incorporated Society of Auctioneers. It is estimated that the cost will be £1,000.000. Mr Wallrock describes it as_ the commercialisation of Mayfair. It is claimed that Park Lane wil he the world's finest shopping thoroughfare. The development is possible, as the Duke of Westminster has removed the ban imposed on the erection of commercial premises in this area, and has given his consent to the conversion of palaces and mansions into shops and emporiums on a vast scale. Sir Edward Lutyens, on behalf of the Duke of "Westminster, will supervise tho architecture.
