BOXING.
PURDY MATCHED LOCALLY. Arrangements have now been finalised and articles have been signed for Charlie Purdy to meet Harry Casey at Palmerston North on September 19. Purdy is also to be matched at Welingtou at a later date, but his opponent has not yet been decided upon. In addition, the Otago Association lias opened negotiations with him for a bout with Johnny Leckie, provided he can make 9st 61b. In conversation with an Auckland Star representative, Purdy said ho liad rejected the idea of meeting Leckie at 9st 61b, as' lie could not get down to that weight without weakening, but had advised the Otago folk that he would be glad to meet Leckie provided they agreed to him fighting at 9st 91b, _ which is now his natural fighting weight.
