SOCIAL FUNCTIONS.
The Anzac Club again proved popular on Saturday night when 120 couples assembled for the weekly dance. In accordance with the decision of the committee to distribute novelties at each function, balloons, streamers, paper hats, etc., added to the gaiety of the occasion, as did spot-light and lucky spot dances. Messrs' A. AV. Chapman and E. Chatfield were M.C’s. On Saturday evening last in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Cuba Street, tho Social Club held its usual weekly monster euchre tournament when there were 120 players present. At the conclusion of 24 keenly contested games tho following were declared the prizewinners:—Ladies: Mrs Lissington, i-ton of coal: Mrs Bells, 701 b bag of sugar: Mrs Hammer, 51b box tea; Mrs Humphreys. 251 b bag flour; Mrs Miller, bag coal; Mrs Oliver, lib tea; Mrs Longlcy, fire shovel. Gentlemen :Mr J. Cornish, I-ton coal; Mr Bassett, 701 b bag sugar; Mr Fox. 51b box tea; Mr Bailey. 251 b bag flour; Mr Cooper, bag coal; Mr Gillion, lib tea ; Mr Duggan, fire shovel. The highest score registered was IS4 out of a total of 24 games played. The following, in addition to those already published and with others yet toffie decided, will participate in the play off for the gold wristlet watch on September 1 : —Mrs Cohr, Miss R. Hawkins. Mrs Mabe.v, Miss Olsen, Mrs Barrowman, Mr R. Howg, Mr Iveeloy, all with a score of 13j- A very pleasant evening was brought to a close by the partaking of a tasty supper and tho presentation of the prizes.
